9-Hole Courses in Greater Boston

Hello friends, welcome to another Address the Ball blog post! Today, we are going to dive into my favorite 9-hole courses in the Greater Boston area.  For this list, I'll focus on my top-5 public courses that everyone can access. Let's start it up! 1. Patriot Golf Course (Bedford, MA) Located on the grounds of the VA Medical Center in Bedford (and adjacent to Middlesex Community College), this course is underrated in my opinion. It has a military course feel: straightforward, affordable, low-frills, and very walkable. Despite the 9-hole layout, it’s more demanding than the yardage suggests. If you queue up a round at Patriot, get ready for a solid test of your irons and wedges. The pace of play here is faster than a lot of other courses, but you can still have an outlier round that can take ove...

Do You Actually Need New Clubs?

Do You Actually Need New Clubs? An Honest Guide for Weekend Players Walk into any golf shop in January, and you'll see the same scene: gleaming new clubs, bold marketing promises, and salespeople ready to tell you that last year's technology is already obsolete. Here's the honest breakdown: New Clubs Will Help If: Your clubs are 15+ years old . Materials science has actually impr...

Hello everyone, and welcome to another Address The Ball blog post!  As the weather rapidly gets colder in New England, I'm sure many of you are looking to keep your golf games in check and on the up and up this winter. Whether you are just finding something in your swing or don't want to lose progress, we've got some solutions for you.  The most effective way I have found to keep my swing loose, and game in shape is to frequent a golf simulator. Sometimes the monotonous task of beating balls into a screen isn't exactly mentally stimulating, I've found that a good simulator league does wonders for your swing, and overall morale when you can't squeeze in a quick twilight nine-hole round with the sun setting.  In the Greater Boston area, my go-to simulator is Birdie Bar in Waltham, MA. This location is ready for you, with 5 HD Golf Simulators, a fully stocked bar, and a kitchen with traditional bar bites to keep you fueled during your session.  Let's take a di...
